Roger Medina-Serra
LV, MVetMed, PhD, DipECVAA, MRCVS
ACVAA Pain Management – Founding Fellow
RCVS and ECVAA® European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Roger is a Founding Fellow in Pain Management of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and serves on its Pain Management Fellowship Committee. An active clinician and researcher, he has a particular interest in interventional pain management, and leads the Interventional Pain Management Unit at North Downs Specialist Referrals (NDSR) in the UK. Roger is also the Co-founder and Course Director of Inspire U Pain Sciences, where he is dedicated to advancing education and innovation in veterinary pain management.

Alfonso Rodriguez-Mulet
LV, MVetMed, DipECVAA, MRCVS
RCVS and ECVAA® European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Alfonso works as a senior anaesthetist at Bristol Veterinary Specialists. He has a particular interest in the dual approach to locoregional anaesthesia, combining ultrasound guidance with peripheral nerve stimulation to improve block accuracy and perioperative analgesia. He is also particularly interested in the role of locoregional anaesthesia in critically ill patients, where effective analgesia and reduced systemic drug requirements may improve perioperative stability.

Massimiliano Degani
DVM, MsC, PhD
Massimiliano is a Senior Clinician in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Liège, Belgium. He completed postgraduate training across Europe, including ECVAA residency training and a PhD in ultrasound-guided locoregional anaesthesia. His research focuses on locoregional anaesthesia and pain management. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals and is an invited speaker at continuing education courses across Europe.

David Casado-Bregón
DVM, MSc, CertAVP, DipECVDI, MRCVS
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
David gained experience in small animal practice across Europe before moving to the UK in 2016, where he continued his postgraduate training and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2025. He has a particular clinical interest in musculoskeletal imaging and the diagnosis of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disease and is committed to continually developing his expertise in this field.

Elena Ríos-Álvarez
LV, DipECVAA
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Elena is a clinician, researcher, and lecturer at the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir, Spain. Her professional interests focus on perioperative care, pain management, and the advancement of regional anaesthesia techniques to improve patient comfort, safety, and welfare. She is particularly committed to promoting multimodal analgesia and optimising pain assessment and treatment strategies, ensuring the highest standards of care for animals during hospitalisation and recovery.

Eliseo Belda-Mellado
LV, MSc, PhD, Acred. AVEPA in Anesthesia and Analgesia
Eliseo is a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia, University of Murcia (Spain). His clinical, teaching and research activities focus on ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, perioperative analgesia and pain management in small animals. His research has contributed to the development and validation of novel ultrasound-guided locoregional techniques in dogs and cats, resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is actively involved in postgraduate education and regularly lectures and delivers practical workshops on regional anaesthesia at national and international conferences.

João C. Alves
DVM, MSc, PhD, DipECVSMR
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
João Alves works with police working dogs at the Guarda Nacional Republicana, Portugal, focusing on sports medicine and rehabilitation. He completed a PhD on intra-articular management strategies for osteoarthritis and is a European Specialist in Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. His interests include osteoarthritis, working dog sports medicine, photobiomodulation therapy and canine exercise, areas in which he has published widely and regularly lectures.

Francisco Laredo-Álvarez
LV, PhD, Acred (AVEPA) Anestesia y Analgesia, CertVA, MRCVS
Full Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia in the University of Murcia (Spain). Chief of the Service of Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Murcia. Co-author of more than 20 publications on US-guided regional analgesia techniques in indexed Journals and director of researching and PhD projects to develop new US guided loco-regional blocks in small animals. Former President of the Spanish Society of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (SEAAV).

Miguel A. Cabezas
LV, Acred (AVEPA) Anestesia y Analgesia
With over 20 years of experience in anaesthesia, analgesia and pain management, Miguel A. develops and leads multidisciplinary Pain Management Units across several veterinary hospitals in Spain, with a particular interest in regional anaesthesia and interventional pain management. He is an experienced international lecturer and author in small animal pain management.

Giacomo Riggio
Dr Riggio has an extensive academic background on dog behaviour and welfare. He is a European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine and a postgraduate lecturer in “Veterinary Geriatrics and Gerontology”, and “Veterinary Clinical Ethology”. In his clinical practice, teaching, and scientific publications on pain-related cases, he advocates for an integrated approach addressing the deep interconnection between physical and emotional pain.

Alejandra García de Carellán Mateo
LV, MVetMed, Acr. AVEPA GAVA, ifevet PGCert. Anest. Dipl. ECVAA
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Alejandra has extensive expertise in small animal anaesthesia and pain management. She completed advanced training at the University of Liverpool and the Royal Veterinary College in London, and currently leads the Anaesthesia and Analgesia Service at MemVet Veterinary Referral Hospital in Palma de Mallorca while contributing to veterinary education and professional training.

Juanjo Camarasa-Evaristo
LV, MSc, DipECVS, MRCVS
RCVS and EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Juan José has extensive international training and advanced expertise in orthopaedics. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and surgical management of chronic joint disease, traumatic injuries, and complex musculoskeletal conditions. He is passionate about maximising patient outcomes by integrating minimally invasive surgery, regenerative medicine, and rehabilitation therapies to improve mobility, comfort, and long-term quality of life for dogs and cats.

Patricia López-Abradelo
DVM, MRCVS
Patricia is a resident in training in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia, and her clinical and research interests focus on locoregional anaesthesia, particularly its role in multimodal perioperative analgesia and the management of acute and chronic pain. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on lumbosacral pain and locoregional anaesthetic techniques and is actively involved in clinical research aimed at advancing their application in veterinary pain management.

Freddie Allan
BVM BVS (Hons), MVetMed, DACVIM(SAIM) DECVIM-CA, MRCVS
EBVS®, ACVIM, and RCVS recognised specialist in Internal Medicine
Freddie has worked in both academic and private referral hospitals, has published in peer-reviewed journals, and has contributed multiple textbook chapters in his areas of research. Freddie’s clinical interests include immune-mediated diseases, hepatobiliary diseases, and optimising the welfare and quality of life of patients with chronic disease.

Alvaro Gutiérrez-Bautista
DVM, MsC, PhD, DiplECVAA
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
As a senior academic clinician and lecturer, Álvaro has a particular interest in regional anaesthesia and interventional pain management in small animals. His expertise encompasses referral pain clinic services, clinical teaching, and active research with multiple scientific publications in loco-regional techniques in small animals, horses, and experimental models.

Andy Craig
BVSc, PGCert(SAS), DipECVS, MRCVS
RCVS and EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Andrew is a European and RCVS-recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, based in the south of England, with interests in minimally invasive fracture repair, joint replacement and spinal surgery. He established and runs a dedicated joint replacement service in Northern Ireland. Andrew is currently BVOA co-Education Secretary, lectures for CPD providers, assesses BSAVA certificate case reports, examines for the RCVS, and co-hosts an online orthopaedic journal club.

Cristina Bianchi
DVM, MVetMed, DipECVAA, MRCVS
EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Cristina is a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the University of Edinburgh and Head of the Pain Clinic. She is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist, with a particular interest in chronic pain management and locoregional anaesthesia, focusing on the development of multimodal and multidisciplinary approaches to pain relief.

Raquel Salgüero Fernández
After several years in general practice and referral internships in the UK, Raquel completed a master in teaching and a residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Cambridge, obtaining the European Diploma in 2015. She is currently head of Diagnostic imaging at Veterios, referral hospital in Spain, assistant professor at the University Complutense and a teleradiologist consultant. She has experience in all the diagnostic imaging modalities, with special interests in musculoskeletal and neuroimaging, including all the different modalities.

Elibigility
For selected international courses, delegates who primarily practise within the course’s designated region may be eligible for a reduced Regional Registration Fee. Where the Regional Access Programme applies, this will be clearly indicated within the relevant course information and registration details. Supporting information may be requested during registration to confirm eligibility.
